Baptism
“Blessed are they who wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb!”
—Revelation 22:14
The first sacrament is the foundation of being a Christian. Baptism, according to the literal meaning of the term, is an “immersion” into the death and resurrection of Christ that shapes all of life: it forgives sins, it makes one son or daughter of God, and it joins one to the Church.
Children are baptized within the first weeks of life, if possible. A class is provided to help parents understand the grace and responsibilities of this sacrament. Baptisms are celebrated year-round at the Cathedral and can be conveniently scheduled.
